While the bibliography is extensive, with some 2000 entries, it is not claimed to be comprehensive. It is arranged in alphabetical order by author, with a separate section at the end listing official Games reports. Key words are appended to references, in [square brackets]. Particular Olympic Games are indicated by the host city name only – eg. [Barcelona] – but by name and date if the city has hosted more than one games – eg. [Athens 1896] [Athens 2004]. The Adobe-Acrobat search facility can be used to locate items using key words or any word/name appearing in the reference.
Editor's comments - [ The original version of the bibliography, with some 600 entries, was published in printed format in 1995 (see Burkhardt et al., 1995): this is now out of print and there are at present no plans to produce an updated print version. ] Reference this?Cryer, J.
