"Over the period early 2000 to the end of 2001 sportscotland operated a pilot Talent Identification and Development Programme in partnership with three local authorities.
The programme used a series of physical tasks and an interactive D-Rom – Sport Interactive – to determine the suitability of sports for young people. In order to investigate the validity and applicability of the programme sportscotland commissioned the University of Edinburgh to undertake an academic review.
In producing the review all known research into talent identification and development worldwide was considered in sport and in other domains."
This document represents meta-research looking at the variety and contexts of talent identification - well worth a look.
More academic than Balyi (but hey that's not hard!), but still misses many talent ID programmes (particularly historic - from the former USSR, GDR etc)
Will someone please send us the full document since this one is incomplete (no references etc.)
