The series is aimed at guiding and supporting policy makers and practitioners through the contribution sport can make in supporting the delivery of local community and shared priorities of central and local government. With the profile of sport set to soar thanks to London's successful bid to host the 2012 Olympics, we have a huge opportunity for sport in this country. Hosting the games is likely to heighten public interest in and demand for sport and act as a catalyst for investment. This will have far-reaching benefits.
"Sport Playing Its Part" showcases some of the fantastic work that is already taking place all over the country. Sport England's task now is to work with partners through the Single System for Sport to ensure that this good practice is effectively turned into mainstream practice and that partners are supported and investment targeted at ensuring sport's role in supporting the development of local communities is valued and recognised by all."
