The Central Council for Physical Recreation is the association of National Governing Bodies of Sport in the United Kingdom. Their remit includes lobbying for the promotion of sport and physical activity to government and interested organisations. In this, principally health related document they state;
"Physical inactivity carries the same risks for heart disease as smoking tobacco and obesity. Sport and recreation has a key role to play in delivering the Government's public health agenda, and will help to reduce the long term costs of health care whilst improving people's quality of life."
