This European Symposium was held at the Chevin Lodge Hotel, Leeds on 14th-16th May 1999. The Symposium was organised by the Federation of Yorkshire Sport and the School of Leisure & Sports Studies at Leeds Metropolitan University, and brought together selected senior sports administrators from a range of national and international sports organisations from throughout Europe.
The aims of the Symposium were as follows:-
- To review the personal and cultural difficulties that inhibit women from playing a full role in the organisation and management of national and international sports federations
- To identify practical solutions to help to solve the problems.
